The big problem is there are so many conflicting facts and opinions related to healthy lifestyle. Due to this, you are likely to leave your internet search session with more questions than answers. This is because many popular beliefs are myths while others are partly true.
Don’t let any misinformation disrupt your weight loss goals. Losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle isn’t a complicated thing. Just because a dietary concept or belief is popular, doesn’t make it true.

1. Some people will never eat normally
In case you want to lose weight, some diet plan teachings can’t allow you to do so. Sometimes you need to tame yourself and follow your weight loss plan. You need also to hold a meeting and remind yourself that you can never afford to eat normally like other people. Almost everyone has this mentality that obese or overweight people have a unique problem that needs them to eat as their plans. Such people need to know that a balanced diet is the key to a good health regardless the body size and weight loss plan.

2. Meat is bad and dairy products are really bad
Being a vegetarian or vegan alone does not guarantee that you will lose weight. It is with no doubt that hunks of cheese or ice cream isn’t good for your health. In addition such dairy products are very rich in fat and calorie dense. Yet you don’t need to give up on dairy products is you are on a weight loss program since they are still very high in calcium and proteins. However, you need to choose the right dairy products for your plan.
A good example is Greek yogurt which is low in fat but very rich in proteins compared to normal or conventional yogurt. You can therefore enjoy real ice cream, real cheese and cream in your coffee provided you will keep them balanced.

The same case applies to eggs which are very rich in protein. They are not necessary to attain a balanced diet though you don’t have to avoid them thinking they will make you gain weight. You cannot assume that you will lose weight by simply avoiding meat, dairy products or eggs in your diet.

3. The United States government plans what you should eat
For decades, the U.S government has always been in the business of deciding what every American will eat. Some campaigns such as Food Pyramid, Four Food Groups and ChooseMyPlate campaign have been put in place though the federal government has been advised by few influential people who want to get rich by selling specific kind of foods. Such people are the ones who own wheat, dairy and meat companies. This doesn’t mean that the government is wrong, though you should know some people gain profit from the campaigns.

According to the new ChooseMyPlate campaign, every meal should have vegetables, fruits, proteins, dairy products and grains. That is a lot for a single meal. You can benefit your health by taking all of those food groups but they are not necessary for every meal. While grain, meat and vegetable mixed with oil or butter is good, why do you need to add milk and fruit? This campaign does not add fat in your diet though you know well that fat is important for a healthy diet. Maybe the dairy or protein you choose in your diet contain fat or maybe you will have to add fat such as olive on the vegetables but the plan does not tell you to do so. Every campaign’s message isn’t clear and is so misleading.

4. Organic food is itself a diet
The phrase“Organic Food” seems seductive and at the same time misleading. Organic food means food grown with no use of agrochemicals such as herbicides, inorganic fertilizers and pesticides. Organic food is not also genetically modified. However, “organic food” only does not explain the nutritional value of the food itself whether it has excessive sugar, fat, starch or whether it is a good dietary choice. A plate of organic food for lunch is chemical free but is not necessarily a healthy lunch at all. It can be imbalanced with high fat, sugar and many calories for just a single meal. Organic sugar still remains sugar and organic fat still remains fat.

5. Paid diet plans are the best
Paid diet plans are very common or popular making many people believe that paying for your diet will work best. The myth goes that you don’t want to waste your cash, so you have to go according to the diet plan. The theory also suggests that a paid diet plan has more value and is more effective compared to a free diet plan. However, in many cases, this theory isn’t true.
You will realize that many people who follow a paid diet program don’t get good results at all. They might lose weight but with time they gain it back. Use of a complicated system that directs you what to eat or tells you to eat packaged meals is not suitable for long-term weight. It is just a simple dietary strategy. You should therefore not waste your cash going for meetings, eating tasteless frozen foods, counting points and unnecessarily posting on forums to share your slipups and successes. Having your simple and free weight loss plan can give you the best results ever.

6. Diet food will help you lose weight
Diet foods are simply fake foods. This is because their manufacturers use all kind of chemical and processing tricks to make you think they are good for your weight loss program. You may be tricked to think you ate a regular cola, a blueberry pie or a chocolate éclair, when you really consumed fillers, artificial sweeteners or even wood pulps. Such diet foods may cause more harm than benefit to your body. For example, artificial sweeteners whether in diet soda or diet yoghurt can disrupt your normal insulin cycle which can lead to type 2 diabetes.

7. Do-over for dietary mistakes starts on Monday
According to this myth, Monday is the best day to correct the dietary mistakes you made the whole of last week. However, Monday’s promise is just a false promise. Monday is just a day like any other. It just implies that you will start something you will eventually stop with time and go back to your old ways.
